The laboratories of Structural Geology-Tectonics and Geological Mapping & Photogeology specialize in analyzing large scale process and their implication on the structural grain of the Hellenides. The main aim is to contribute to the basic knowledge of crustal-scale deformation and the nature of driving forces for this deformation. In particular all field based structural geology methods are applied. Research is being performed also in the following broad areas stress analysis of fault populations, starin analysis, micro-tectonics, tectonic geomorphology and earthquake geology. Up to now, the laboratories activity has been expanded all over the Greece. Recently, starting from 1999 and onwards, our research group is doing research active faults with methods of paleoseimological analysis. Part of this research is in collaboration with other scientific groups.
